At First United Methodist
Church in the heart of downtown Dallas, we have a heart for caring.
We care for our congregation and their families with support during
times of illness and loss, and with congratulations during times
of joy and new birth. Congregational care plays a vital role in
bringing the church community together as the body of Christ.
We
have several different ministries that make up congregational care
here First Church, Dallas. We have a prayer ministry team that
spends time in the prayer room every workday, praying for those
who are sick and in need. A prayer group meets early each Tuesday
morning to pray for concerns of the congregation. Our ministers
visit those members and their families who are in the hospital.
Volunteers and staff also call and visit members who are homebound
and can no longer attend worship, and once a year at Christmas,
bring gifts. New parents in the congregation are called upon by
a mother’s group delivering “Baby’s First Bible” and
other special gifts. We even phone persons who have missed worship
services for more than 3 consecutive Sundays, just to make sure
they are all right.
Congregational care is a vital ministry to this
church community, and it is everyone’s responsibility. If you are interested
in becoming a part of this rewarding ministry please click on the “volunteer
opportunities” button below. You may serve the congregation
by spending time in the prayer room once a month. You may visit
with a homebound member, or you could just write notes of encouragement
to those that are going through a difficult time. So open up your
heart and life, so others know that this congregation really cares. |
