Review various definitions of a parable, different approaches to interpreting them, and discuss specific parables – from the most important to the most troubling and difficult to understand. This course will use:The Parables for Today by Alyce McKenzie; Short Stories by Jesus by Amy-Jill Levine; and Re-imagine the World by Bernard Brandon Scott. Students should bring a Bible and a list of parables they’d like to discuss.
