February Exhibit
Near and Far
Paintings, Collages, and Clay
W. R. “Gnat” Bozeman and Alena Reindl
The Goodrich Gallery is pleased host an exhibit featuring clay sculptures by Walter Bozeman and paintings by Alena Reindl. This dual exhibit -- two artists - two media -- is a “first” for the gallery in its 38 year history. Goodrich Gallery Chair, Sarah White, on behalf of the entire committee, extends an invitation to the opening reception on Sunday, February 5, from 12:00 noon to 2:00 p.m. in the gallery. This will be a wonderful opportunity to view the exhibit and personally meet the artists.

Alena Reindl was born in 1965 in Slovakia, formerly Czechoslovakia, where she graduated in 1991 from the Medical Faculty of Bratislava Komensky University. She lived there with her husband and worked as a pediatrician in Modra until their children were born. Drawing and writing from early childhood, art has always been one of the most important parts of her life. She was “especially influenced by my father who passed to me his knowledge about a meaningful and peaceful life . . .my father taught me that nobody can take from me what I have learned and what I have seen, so . . . I can see and understand our world better. In this way, art gives me wings and freedom.” Reindl continues, “My art work is like pages from my book of life . . .telling a long story about my family, roots, culture and a past.”
While living in Dallas, Reindl has studied painting with Professor Bob Nunn and ceramics with Professor Marty Ray at North Lake College in Irving. She has also attended drawing classes with Professors Chris Fulmer and Mary Fuhrer and is currently, taking classes in watercolor with Professor Melodie Ramirez.
Reindl gratefully acknowledges the “encouragement, support, and inspiration of family, friends, teachers”, and dedicates this exhibit to “all . . .who always believed in me, and who nourished my artistic side.”

W. R. “Gnat” Bozeman was born in Florence, Alabama. He grew up in Sheffield, Alabama and holds a Bachelor of Industrial Design from Auburn University. Since his retirement from the Irving Healthcare System Foundation in 2002, he has been a student of Marty Ray at Northlake College in Irving. His are studies include ceramics, design, sculpture, and advanced ceramics. Bozeman has exhibited at Plymouth Park United Methodist Church, Irving Healthcare Foundation, and Irving Cares, as well as numerous exhibits at Northlake College, which purchased one of his pieces in 2005. On several occasions he has donated his artwork to silent and audible auctions where the money went to a charity. This is Mr. Bozeman’s first exhibit outside of Irving, Texas, where he resides with his wife, Patty. Mr. Bozeman says he enjoys “working with clay as it allows me to express my feelings. Since I create each piece with my hands, it is important that they don’t look perfect. A fingerprint or mark is a good thing. In my life some days are better than others, and my work reflects that.”
