Sunday, Dec. 1 – First Sunday of Advent

Hanging of the Greens Service
10 a.m. in the Sanctuary

FirstChurch once again opens the door for Jesus Christ to become the focal point of the season with our Hanging of the Greens Worship Service. All ages are invited to join in the celebration as we learn about Advent and decorate our historic Sanctuary. Our 5th & 6th grade Zone56 class will lead this service. Holy Communion will be served. Music will be provided by our children’s choirs, Steeple Ringers, Orff ensemble and Celebration Ringers.

This will be the only worship service on this Sunday.


Sunday, Dec. 8 – Second Sunday of Advent

FirstGifts Christmas Gift Market
8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in Fiedler Atrium

Shop for alternative Christmas gifts this year! Each booth included in the FirstGifts Christmas Market supports a mission. Fair-trade gifts, stocking stuffers, holiday treats, and gift cards supporting the agencies are available for purchase and the proceeds contribute to the agencies’ missions. Variations youth choir, Carillon Ringers and the Chancel Choir will provide music for our 11 a.m. Advent worship service.


Tuesday, Dec. 10
Christmas Service of Healing & Hope
6:30 p.m. in the Wortley-Peabody Theatre

For most folks the Christmas Season is an exciting and much anticipated time of the year. But for some of us it can bring feelings of sadness, or loneliness, or emptiness. The Christmas Service of Healing and Hope is designed to offer a peaceful time of quiet meditation with beautiful harp music, lighting of candles, prayer time, and words of understanding and hope.


Sunday, Dec. 15 – Third Sunday of Advent
All-Church Breakfast & A Service of Lessons and Carols

8:30 – 11 a.m. – We’re making breakfast! Come enjoy goodies made by members. There will also be a model train display, a play area for kids, FirstGifts mini-market and professional photos. Bring your family and friends!

Then, join us for A Service of Lessons and Carols featuring the music of Handel’s Messiah performed by Chancel Choir, soloists and orchestra at 11 a.m. in the Sanctuary.


Sunday, Dec. 22 – Fourth Sunday of Advent

8:45 & 11 a.m. – Join us for this Advent service as we prepare for the birth of the Christ child. Music will be provided by the Christmas Eve Choir and Men’s Quartet.

9:45 a.m. – Christmas music will be provided by The Walden Twins in Fiedler Atrium.


Tuesday, Dec. 24
Christmas Eve Services

4:30 p.m. – Family-Friendly Children at the Manger Service
Join us for our family-friendly traditional children’s presentation. Dr. Andy Stoker will deliver the homily.

7 p.m. – This joyful celebration of the coming of the Christ Child will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion and will conclude with the lighting of candles while singing Silent Night.

9:30 p.m. – This Traditional Candlelight Service features music by the Christmas Eve Choir and concludes with the lighting of candles and the singing of Silent Night (also streaming live on and telecast in HD at 11:35 p.m. on WFAA-TV, Channel 8).

Childcare will be available on Christmas Eve from 4:00 – 10:45 p.m.


Sunday, Dec. 29
Worship Service
10 a.m. in the Sanctuary

This will be the only worship service on this Sunday.
