Diana Butler Bass

Monday, November 19, 2018

7:30pm - 9:00pm

In partnership with other faith communities in the city, FirstChurch is pleased to help bring Diana Butler Bass to Dallas. Bass will discuss material from her books, including “Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks“, and thoughts on dimensions of American spirituality.

A former Evangelical turned Episcopalian, Bass holds a Ph.D in religious studies from Duke University, and is one of the most prolific voices on American religion today. Dr. Bass is a renowned scholar of American religion and an award-winning writer on the intersection of religion in culture. She will be speaking about a new paradigm for social and political relationships that is based in a spiritual understanding of gratitude and shared communal life with a goal to bring people together in these contentious times. Her latest book, “Grateful: The Transformative Power of Giving Thanks”, will be available for purchase. Admission is free, and all are welcome. This event is hosted by Faith Commons, in partnership with many congregations, organizations and individuals in the Dallas community.
