A few things you probably didn’t know about Louis Malone, a longtime member of FirstChurch’s Building Services.

Tell me the story of how you got hired? Oh, Ken Cummins. He sang in the choir. He’s the one that brought me here 29 years ago. On Sept 19, 1987. 33 years old. I used to work for him in the cabinet business.

What’s one of your favorite memories at FirstChurch? Hmm. Let me see. Community Christmas, a Christmas Brunch we’d serve every Christmas for the homeless. Heavenly people. Cheery. Givin ‘em presents and stuff. Clothes, bicycles, toys. We stopped doing that about 10 years ago. I liked it. I miss it.

I hear you only like fried chicken. What else do you eat? Hamburgers, catfish filet, sometimes hot dogs, beans, mashed potatoes, Salisbury steak.

Favorite movie: Friday the 13th. Horror picture. I like scary movies.

Favorite music: I have about 250 some CDs. A lot of R&B. On Sundays I play Gospel music. I don’t play R&B on Sundays. Just through the week. Sundays is all Gospel music.

What’s on your bucket list? I don’t have no bucket list.

If you could give your teenage self advice, what would it be? Stay out of trouble. Be good to other people.

Did you ever get in trouble? Not that I know of.

And there you have it, folks. Louis Malone: A man of few words and loyal staff member for 29 years.
