The Rise Fund Celebrates 5 Years
March 1, 2018
By Holly Bandel
Today, the Rise Fund enters its 5th fundraising year to collect $145,000 for annual distribution to our partner non-profit agencies. By supporting the great work these agencies are doing in our local and global communities, we strive to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world. Jesus’ mission to spread good news to the poor, release the captives and free the oppressed is the same mission we carry.
The Rise Committee, which receives grant applications and conducts site visits, uses the guiding principles of compassion, inclusion and education advocacy to discern how each dollar received should be distributed. In our 2017 fundraising year, The Rise Fund Committee distributed over $130,000 to 11 ministries, including Austin Street Center, Bethlehem Center, Methodist Children’s Home of Costa Rica, Crossroads Community Services, Family Gateway, JJ Rhoads Learning Center, Kairos Outside-North Texas, Lydia Patterson Institute, Mission Now, Project Transformation and the Wesley-Rankin Community Center.
In order to be complementary to our First United Methodist Church, Dallas budget campaign, the Rise fundraising year will end Monday, November 5. Funds received after this date will be allocated for the following year.
As we prepare to celebrate our 5th year, we want to invite you to our 5th Year Birthday Celebration on Sunday, April 8 at 6:00 pm at the Biblical Arts Museum. This event will provide more information about the agencies and ministries the Rise Fund supports and our goals for 2018. Invite your family and friends to join us for this evening of fun and mission in the name of Christ! Register at www.firstchurchdallas.org/rise-anniversary-dinner.
