This is FirstChurch.

At FirstChurch, our cultural, spiritual and theological alignments to Christ compel us to break down structures that perpetuate poverty and harbor hate in our world – and this starts within our walls. We strive to embody the Kin-dom of God in its true form – a just, loving community in which people are free to be themselves fully and without fear. We cherish the diversity of humanity vowing to provide a place where no one is exiled, silenced or exploited because of their sex, age, race, class, ethnicity, national origin, range of abilities, sexual orientation, gender identity, financial means, education and/ or political perspective. We invite all to participate in the life of the church and our beloved community.

We are a beautifully complex congregation, yet we are unified by our commitment to the theology of the Open Table, where there is a seat for all. This campaign makes this commitment known to those inside and outside our walls. This is an opportunity for us to affirm our LBGTQ+ siblings, yet explore and expand the notions of how Church should look, feel and function.

Since March, we have communicated extensively about the events of General Conference 2019 and our response to them. See the links below to see how our church has prayerfully considered the issues, held discussions and is formulating a plan of action.
