Worship for July 25

We are glad you are joining us this day. This online guide gives you all the elements you need to participate in the worship service today.

At this point in the season of COVID, the FirstChurch community is comprised of people who have and have not been vaccinated and we remain committed to making it a safe space for all.  When in common areas and/or walking from place to place, please wear your mask. In the sanctuary, those who have been vaccinated may remove their mask after being seated; it is expected that those who have not been vaccinated will continue to wear a mask for the duration of the service.

For your convenience, bottled water is available at the Information Desk on Sundays and bottle fillers are located on the second and third floors..

*Opening Prayer – Rev. Angela Williams

*Hymn of Praise – UMH #126 Sing Praise to God Who Reigns Above MIT FREUDEN ZART (v. 1 and 4)

Sing praise to God who reigns above,
the God of all creation,
the God of power, the God of love,
the God of our salvation.
With healing balm my soul is filled
and every faithless murmur stilled:
To God all praise and glory.

Let all who name Christ’s holy name
give God all praise and glory;
let all who own his power proclaim
aloud the wondrous story!
Cast each false idol from its throne,
for Christ is Lord, and Christ alone:
To God all praise and glory.

Pastoral Prayer – Rev. Williams

The Lord’s Prayer

Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name,
thy kingdom come, thy will be done
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread,
and forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those
who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil,
for thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory forever. Amen.

*Closing Hymn – UMH #381 Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us BRADBURY (v.1 and 3)

Savior, like a shepherd lead us,
much we need thy tender care;
in thy pleasant pastures feed us,
for our use thy folds prepare.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
Thou hast bought us, thine we are.

Thou hast promised to receive us,
poor and sinful though we be;
thou hast mercy to relieve us,
grace to cleanse and power to free.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
We will early turn to thee.
Blessed Jesus, blessed Jesus!
We will early turn to thee.

*Benediction – Dr. Stoker

Postlude – Rigaudon – Andre Campra
Tim Effler, organ
